AAIDLE Privacy Policy
AAIDLE is made by Probity Point Enterprises, LLC ("we"). This policy explains what the app sends us and why.
The short version. AAIDLE does not collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location or advertising identifier. It shows no ads and contains no third-party analytics or tracking code. With your permission, which you can withdraw at any time, it sends anonymous results of the puzzles you finish so we can make them fairer.
What the app sends. When "Share anonymous gameplay stats" is on (it is on by default), the app sends one record after each finished game:
- the game mode, the puzzle, whether you solved it, and your guesses and other actions in order, with the resolution each was made at
- how long you spent and, for Practice and Time Attack, your score
- the app version, whether it came from TestFlight or the App Store, whether the device is an iPhone or iPad, and whether you were playing in the 1970 setting
- the hour the game was played, in UTC
- a random identifier the app creates when it first sends stats. It is not derived from your device, your Apple Account or any other identifier, and reinstalling the app creates a new one.
When a record arrives, our server notes the country it came from, worked out from the network address. The network address itself is not stored.
Why. To see which puzzles are too hard or too easy, which amino acids are mistaken for each other at each resolution, and how changes to the game affect difficulty. This is our legitimate interest in improving the game. We do not sell the data, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other sources.
Where it goes and how long we keep it. Records are stored in a database run for us by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Records are deleted 24 months after they arrive. Summaries that contain no individual records, such as a puzzle's win rate, may be kept longer.
Your choices. Turn off "Share anonymous gameplay stats" in About. The app then sends nothing more and deletes any results it had not yet sent. Because records are not linked to you, we cannot pick out your records among everyone else's to show or delete them.
On your device. Your games, streaks and solve times are stored only on your device and are not sent anywhere except as described above.
Children. AAIDLE collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
